A positive volunteer experience is our first priority. Whether you are volunteering with Mohawk or a community group, we encourage you to do your due diligence and ask the following questions before getting involved:
  • What health and safety protocols, including any COVID-19 related protocols, are put in place to protect volunteers?
  • How will I receive training for this volunteer role?
  • Who will be my direct supervisor? Who can I contact if I have questions or concerns and my supervisor is unavailable?

Description:

Make a long-lasting, positive difference as a mentor with Empowerment Squared by assisting newcomer youth and families with settling in Canada.

 

Online Homework Circle (Grades 1-12)

Empowerment Squared’s Homework Circle program supports newcomer youth in grades 1 to 12. Our volunteers work with program participants to put them on pathways to access post-secondary education through mentoring and tutoring for academic success. This includes helping them complete their assignments and homework.

  • Tuesdays 4:30-6:00pm  -  Grades 6-8
  • Wednesdays 4:30-6:00pm - Grades 9-12
  • Thursdays 4:30-5:30pm - Grades 1-5

 

Online Home Alone Safety Course (Ages 10-13)

Empowerment Squared’s Home Alone Safety Program is a four session online program aimed at empowering youth from the ages of 10-13 to make decisions that will keep themselves and their siblings safe if they are facing a crisis. This course is based on the Home Alone Safety for Kids program developed by SOS 4 Kids!

  • Wednesdays 5:00-6:30pm

Time: 4:15-6:30 PM

Tuesday Volunteers: January 18, 2022 (Grades 6-8)

Wednesday Volunteers: January 19, 2022 (Grades 9-12)

Thursday Volunteers: January 20, 2022(Grades 1-5)
