The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking the following.

 

Emergency Response Team (ERT) Responder for Disaster Management (DM)

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is activated for responses that exceed Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) capacity. The incumbent of this position will be assigned to deliver a specific service on site during a response, however, must know how to deliver all services at the ERT level. During non-response times, the ERT Responder may resume duties as a PDA Responder.

Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Responder for Disaster Management (DM)

The Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team is activated to respond and provide assistance for up to the first 72 hours following a disaster. The incumbent of this position is responsible for conducting a needs assessment to determine the needs of the clients. The PDA Responder will provide, as appropriate to agreements with the local authorities, Emergency Social Services (ESS) for relief, referral services and direct assistance for recovery, as well as, works with the PDA Supervisor to plan and organize ongoing preparedness activities. They may be asked to deliver services during a large-scale emergency response in their community.

Emergency Response Team (ERT) Supervisor

 The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is activated for a response that exceeds Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team capacity. The ERT Supervisor supervises a team of ERT Responders at the local level. The ERT Supervisor will organize and set up and manage a specific service during a response. The incumbent of this position supervises the work of the responders placed under their responsibility. There may be several services on the site. the ERT Supervisor will be responsible for various emergency shelter and reception centre response activities in addition to other responsibilities related to emergency preparedness. The ERT Supervisor will also perform supervisory duties for a team of ERT Responders.

Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Supervisor

 The PDA Supervisor will be responsible to supervise a team of PDA Responders in addition to filling various on-call shifts on a 24/7 schedule that includes weekends, holidays and evenings. When called on to respond, the PDA Supervisor will be required to provide relief directly to clients in need of assistance. The Personal Disaster Assistance Team is activated to respond and provide assistance for up to the first 72 hours following a disaster. The PDA supervisor will supervise a team of PDA responders at the local level. The PDA Supervisor will provide, as appropriate, direct aid assessment for delivery of ESS services for relief, referral services, and/or recovery assistance, as well as, be responsible for planning and organizing ongoing preparedness activities. They may be asked to deliver services during a large-scale emergency. The PDA Supervisor may be asked to represent Disaster Management on cross-functional working groups.

Administrative Assistant Volunteer for Volunteer Resource Services

Reporting to the Volunteer Resources Coordinator, this position provides the volunteer based transactional support services of the Canadian Red Cross. Volunteer Resources strives to assist all programs with recruitment, selection, placement and orientation of volunteer candidates.

Mapping Volunteers

Mapping volunteers will support a variety of GIS needs and activities. Reporting to the GIS Coordinator, the Mapping Volunteers will be responsible for supporting and hosting mapathons in support of the Missing Maps project, improving the quality of crowd-sourced geographic data, and may be asked to create basic mapping products to support emergency response activities when necessary. During emergency operations, volunteers may be embedded into provincial response structures and report to the Information Management Supervisor. Volunteers who do not wish to deploy in person or remotely may be requested to back fill other operational information management staff as required.
