Welcome to Mohawk’s Volunteer & Leadership Opportunities Site!

A positive volunteer experience is our first priority. Whether you are volunteering with Mohawk or a community group, we encourage you to do your due diligence and ask the following questions before getting involved:

  • What health and safety protocols, including any COVID-19 related protocols, are put in place to protect volunteers?
  • How will I receive training for this volunteer role?
  • Who will be my direct supervisor? Who can I contact if I have questions or concerns and my supervisor is unavailable?

  3. TEAD Lesson Volunteer
Description:

TEAD Lesson Volunteer

TEAD is a not-for-profit organization that offers therapeutic riding lessons to individuals with disabilities. Many of our riders require volunteers to lead the horse they are riding, in addition to other individuals walking beside the horse. Some riders require up to 3 volunteers per lesson for safety purposes. We are looking for responsible and reliable lesson-helper volunteers to take part in weekly shifts (shifts are typically 1.5-3 hours in length). Volunteers will be leading and sidewalking with the riders during their lessons. We have shift availabilities from Monday-Saturday, with evening options on certain weekdays. All prospective volunteers must complete a 2-hour training session at TEAD to achieve qualification to volunteer. Volunteers over 18 years of age must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSC).

When:

1-5 hours per week.
