Welcome to Mohawk’s Volunteer & Leadership Opportunities Site!

A positive volunteer experience is our first priority. Whether you are volunteering with Mohawk or a community group, we encourage you to do your due diligence and ask the following questions before getting involved:

  • What health and safety protocols are put in place to protect volunteers?
  • How will I receive training for this volunteer role?
  • Who will be my direct supervisor? Who can I contact if I have questions or concerns and my supervisor is unavailable?

Only Mohawk College volunteer and Leadership listings will be prioritized and promoted. Community listings will be limited until further notice.

Disclaimer: External organizations listed on this site are not always affiliated with Mohawk College. Volunteers should visit community organization websites to learn more about them. Volunteers should never send money or banking information to these organizations.

All volunteer positions listed are eligible for credit on your Co-Curricular Record (CCR). To learn more, visit www.mohawkcollege.ca/ccr

CityKidz - Multiple Volunteer Roles Available

About CityKidz:

CityKidz is a dynamic faith-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children. We exist to increase resiliency and inspire big dreams for Canadian children living in low-income communities by providing inspirational experiences and nurturing personal relationships, one child at a time. Through our programs we instill positive values and morals into the lives of children, help build a solid foundation for their future and inspire each child to make positive life choices and to choose to “do what’s right.” Everything we do is guided by our Faith, Hope and Love.

Volunteer Roles:

Community Connection Volunteer

CityKidz is seeking Community Connection Volunteers to strengthen relationships with kids and families in the community. Every other week, volunteers go out in teams to visit registered CityKidz families, build meaningful relationships at their front doors, and encourage big dreams for children. This role is essential in strengthening connections with families while sharing information about our Saturday programs and other CityKidz initiatives.

Kids Theatre Support Volunteer

These volunteers play an important relational and supervisory role before, during, and after the theatre experience. Before the program, they engage children in the Volunteer Centre waiting area, facilitate activities, and assist with check-in procedures. During the show, they sit with the children, providing encouragement, gentle behavioural guidance, and support. After the program, they help ensure a safe and organized dismissal to caregivers or bus routes.

Bus Driver Volunteer

Bus Drivers safely operate full-sized school buses while following all traffic regulations and CityKidz procedures. They transport children, youth, and volunteers between their homes and the CityKidz program centre, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable journey. Drivers work alongside supportive Bus Team and Bus Logistics volunteers who help make every Saturday experience successful.

Bus Team Volunteer

Bus Team Volunteers support children both on the Big Red Bus and during the theatre experience. They assist with pickups and drop-offs while building intentional relationships with children through conversation, activities, encouragement, and engagement. Their goal is to create a safe, loving, and fun environment where every child feels known and valued.

Bus Logistics Support Volunteer
Bus Logistics Support Volunteers play a key role in ensuring Saturday transportation runs safely and efficiently. They assist children as they board and exit buses, direct traffic within the parking lot, guide bus drivers, and provide logistical support throughout the day to ensure safe arrivals and departures.

Cast Volunteer

Cast Volunteers help bring the CityKidz Saturday experience to life through theatrical performances, songs, dancing, games, skits, activities, and teaching moments. Working alongside Stage Hosts, they create an energetic and immersive environment that inspires children to develop positive character and dream big.

Theatre Tech Crew Member
Theatre Tech Crew Volunteers provide behind-the-scenes technical support by operating sound, lighting, and computer equipment during CityKidz Saturday shows. Their work helps create engaging, high-quality experiences that inspire children while supporting the overall success of each production.

Food Prep Volunteer

Food Preparation Volunteers work together to organize, prepare, and distribute meals for every child attending CityKidz on Saturdays. They play an important role in ensuring every child receives a meal while working efficiently as part of a team with strong time management and collaboration.
