Literacy or Math Volunteer-Tutor

Volunteer-Tutors support the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region (LDANR)’s numeracy and literacy tutoring program for children in Grades 1-10 who are demonstrating difficulties due to a diagnosed or potential learning disability. These one-on-one programs are designed to motivate and help children gain confidence and academic success in their fundamental literacy or math skills by pairing them with a trained volunteer tutor. It is also designed to help volunteer-tutors gain knowledge and experience in working with children who experience difficulties learning.

The Volunteer-Tutor is responsible for developing and implementing an appropriate and effective individualized tutoring program and workstation board to meet their child’s unique needs and learning styles over the course of 8 weeks. Positions are available in many cities across the Niagara Region from Beamsville to Fort Erie. Volunteer commitment varies from 1.5-3 hours/week (depending on the specific program) for an 8-week session.
