Empowerment Squared is a Canadian charity that works with you and communities to effect sustainable change through education, social development, and lifelong learning opportunities. They aim to empower less privileged communities through academic mentoring for youth and young adults, information literacy, leadership development, and supervised access to sports and recreation opportunities.

Campus to Community and Empowered Squared are looking for 6 academic and recreational volunteers to support programming that starts in January 2020.  Conveniently located in downtown Hamilton needs volunteers to commit to one 2-hour shift each week.

Elementary School                                                                High School

Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm                                                   Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm

Thursdays from 4:30-6:30 pm

 

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Are adaptable and have a willingness to learn
  • Enjoy interacting with elementary or high school aged children
  • Are interested in engaging with culturally diverse populations
  • Can commit to one 2-hour shift a week from January-March 2020

 

Volunteers will receive:

  • Training and on-going support to work effectively with school age/high school students
  • The chance to network with peers in a positive and fun environment
  • The opportunity to represent Mohawk College and positively impact the lives of children in the community
  • The chance to apply for a $1,000 scholarship
